Once again the Hawkeyes defeat another team: the Gators. So far, our team has had no contest with any of the teams that we've played against, but I don't know, this week our team has no coach, so my dad has to go as a substitute. I'm not done yet. Our star player (aside from #4), is absent. At 6'9", he can dunk over ANYBODY!!!!! Even though we are missing many teamates, our team will dominate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope is in the air. There very few people who are risky enough to trade an excellent center for a 17 year old guard (still in high school) but Jerry West is one of those daring people. Jerry was the first person in the NBA to ever draft a high school guard. He was the first to trade a player for one as well. Not only does Jerry do this, but he gets Vlade Divac on his team. There were many people who saw greatness in Kobe Bryant, but no other general manager was willing to bet all of their money on it.

The boss of the New Jersey Nets, John Calipari, seemed inches away from getting a grip on the decision of choosing Kobe, but on draft day, he let it slip away and made a safe decision by picking Number 8, Kerry Kittles. None of this means that this draft pick will turn out well for the Lakers, all that this means is that they have hope. The Lakers have dug themselves a deep hole, they have spent lots of money, and all they have to do now is find a way to get back out of it. No one knows how the situation will work out, because nobody has ever done it.

This will be extremely hard for Kobe, because nobody including himself knows what he's getting into, and there is no way the spotlight can miss him. In the beginning, Bryant was averaging only 3.4 points per game, and people were extremely disappointed. They asked him if he regretted not going to any school at all. Kobe had 18 months to amaze the world, but where should he start? Without a great player, nobody could respect the Lakers, and that doesn't work out here. Jerry has been working hard to get a new star ever since James Worthy and Earvin "Magic" Johnson retired in 1994 and 1996. The Lakers desperately need a new star, and Kobe is just what they're looking for.

Once again, the Hawkeyes continue to stay undefeated as they win yet ANOTHER game. Our team beat the Aztecs on July 17, 2010. The score was 97 to 4.
